> White House vows cooperation in leak probe
Here is the jist of the issue:
Former Ambassador Joe Wilson has said he believes the White House was behind the leak of the identity of his wife, Valerie Plame, to newspaper columnist and CNN contributor Robert Novak as retribution for Wilson revealing flaws in pre-war intelligence that said Iraq was trying to buy uranium from Africa.
You can see how this would compromise any investigation this woman was involved in as well as her personal safety.
The intresting thing to me about this is why it has become an issue today. I saw Joe Wilson interviewed about this, making this same allegation, over the summer. I thought to myself: "Rove" (insert "Newman" imitation).-----

Amy,
Accusations such as those being made have momentous implications. If you were 'listening', you would know that these were being investigated since there occurence. One does not come out with such statements without being able to substantiate them and such an investigation takes time and esp. one close to the White House, ESP., this White House. Karl Rove, the main person implicated, was fired by Bush Sr. in '92 while he was campaign consultant. Rove was accused of making up a damaging story due to a feud he was having within
the campaign. It wasn't proven, but that Bush, Sr.
fired him weighs heavy. Wilson's is not flippant
gossip that one is apt to make off the top of one's
head out of emotional distress. This is a serious federal offense and holds dangers for US security
here and especially abroad. There needs to be
an outside investigation. If true, which it most likely is or Wilson would not have further put his
neck in a noose, I think it will be the tip of the iceberg of exposing mafia tactics. Interesting that FOX news calls Bush the "teflon" president (remember the "teflon don" Mafia boss Gotti?) We shall see if this one sticks or he gets away again. Kit
