Some things are just so wrong that it's almost painful to think of them existing in the world.
A remake of Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory is horrific enough to contemplate, but to put Johnny Depp in it in unconscionable. Gene Wilder is Willy!
Why don't you just make Chitty Chitty Bang Bang without Dick Van Dyke or the Wizard of Oz without Judy Garland or Gone with the Wind without Vivian Leigh and Clark Gable or Breakfast at Tiffany's with Audrey Hepburn. Somethings just aren't right and should be stopped.
I call on all sane people to boycott this monstrosity!

Okay, I love the original. I know almost all the words to all the songs, and just about every line once they get inside the factory.
That said, I'm willing to give the remake a chance. I think it will likely be very different (it is Tim Burton after all), and, thus, give us a different take on the classic tale.
Apparently, the story's author, Roald Dahl, never liked the original movie.

Good lord! I hadn't heard that! I am the biggest movie buff I know too. Damn I'm glad I hadn't. After what 'ol Johnny said about the US recently I certainly won't be seeing any of his films...least of all a butchering oif Willy Wonka!
The original has been on all week. I've watched it twice.
