One Week + One Day

Ok, I gave myself a week and a day to be mad about the election. Well, to be mad at the bible thumping, gun toting, 40 oz. swilling, ignorant, Wal-Mart shopping, put a "evolution is a theory, not a fact" sticker on text books (!?!?!?), nut jobs, people from red states who disagree with me. I'm over being angry at them... right NOW. But I just have to link to this as my parting shot:

fuckthesouth.com

Yeah, this is an ugly tone to take, but everything in there is factually accurate. AND there are more porn theatres in the bible belt than anywhere else. Even on my worst day, I wouldn't take this angry a tone with these folks, but there is a part of me that read it and thought: YEAH!

Now I'm just preparing myself for whatever inconceivable move Bush will make next (nominate Ashcroft to the Supreme Court??). Just when you think he couldn't be more devisive or assinine, he stoops new level.-----

Yes, bring on the moderates! Although there has been a number of articles debunking the theory that the evangelicals won the election for Bush, I keep hearing all these stories of how they feel they are "owed". Look at what is happening to Arlen Spector.

As for either party being truly for the common man, I would say I agree that neither is doing what they can (but the Democrats are better at it). But the common man can't afford to make large campaign contributions so they get left out. Who can: wealthy people and businesses. Who is getting policies favorable to them: wealthy people and businesses. We need real campaign reform.

And, I actually added the -n' instead of -ng to show a REAL southern accent (of which I have one of the saddest sounding ones ever, I definitely sound like I could have been on Dukes of Hazzard).

Amazingly, I have a really good friend who is a die-hard Democrat (I wouldn't call him a leftist, more of an old-school liberal), and he's actually more like the Bush supporters as far as that stuff goes, but he loves the old school Democratic love for the common man (and let's be honest, right now, neither is hugely in favor of the common man), and Democratic fiscal policy. With that said, I really don't think ALL liberals are that bad, and I certainly wouldn't poke fun at the all west-coastians, or start a site called www.fucktheuppermidwest.com or www.fucknewengland.com (Been once, loved it). So, hopefully, there will be moderates coming into office soon (although I'm not too big a fan of Alberto Gonzalez as attorney general at all).

Yes, we only care about helping the rich and hurting the poor. We also don't want any minorities to succeed. Oh, and screw the gays, too, but not literally.

In fact, unless you're a white, straight, Christian male, you'll have a hard time finding a job anywhere.

Democrats, on the other hand, really care. And if you give me a minute, I might think of one thing they've ever done...

pshaw.. Right back at you. You were complaining that liberals called you names, but conservatives do the same thing. You conservatives.. always trying to turn things around to blame us liberals.. sort of like when you create policies aimed at helping the rich and hurting the poor, then when democrats point it out you say it's class warfare and we're being divisive. Um, no.. you're policy is divisive, not the exposure of the policy.

Now wait... you hate when it's done to you, but don't mind doing it? Ah... I understand now ;-)

First of all, with the exception of ignorant, that really isn't name calling - it's a list of behaviors that while they may not fit you or Tyler personally, (though I was amused that Tyler changed the list to make is sound more ignorant by using " ' " instead of g in 'ing' which I did not), they do fit a group of people who more likely than not are Bush supporters.

And does this sound familiar to you: Volvo driving, latte drinking, tree hugging, north east liberal elitist snob? And I don't have an issue with that because I don't consider most of it bad (though I assume conservatives do) - only the elistist snob part. But I do get angry when we are referred (maybe not by you personally, but by some consertative types) as godless or baby killers. On a talk show yesterday I heard abortion referred to as a holocaust... Good grief. In other words: pot meet kettle, kettle meet pot.

By the way, this wasn't a little liberal whining. It was an attempt to insult anyone who voted for Bush. It was an example of the broad brush philosophy that lead liberals down the losing road for the 5th time out of 7 Presidential elections.

I think it's sad, amy. I'm a Bush supporter and I don't fall under any of your stereotypes. I haven't been to church for years (unless you count Catholic mass when I'm home for the holidays), I've never fired a gun, I rarely (if ever) drink and if I do it's certainly not a 40, I don't shop at Wal Mart, I believe evolution is a fact and I'd like to think I'm not an ignorant nutjob.

But I'm a Bush supporter, and by now, I'm used to liberals calling me names.

I think you miss the point of my post. Yes, I was angry.. I gave myself a period of time to wallow and now I'm moving on. The post was last gasp of irritation. Though I will say this: I think a little liberal whining is far superior to years and years of investigations costing the tax payers 70 million dollars and the only thing you came up with was a lie about a blow job. And Clinton is moderate, as you say.. not a bleeding heart liberal. Whining comes in many forms.

p.s. are you the same Trevor that left me comments a while back? If so, welcome back!

Yeah, that's what the Democrats should do. Just fuck the South, fuck 'em. And your party can continue to get the hell beat out of them in elections. Look at Clinton. I think he was a damn good President, and he was a Southern Democrat who had fairly conservative values (he also doesn't believe in gay marriage).

I'm tired of the whining of the liberals. Their worse than Yankee fans after they lost the ALCS to the Red Sox. I'm from the deep South, voted for Bush, but had absolutely no problems with people who voted for Kerry, and had he won, I would have accepted it, and lived my life. Obviously, most liberals can't do that. And if to be a Southerner makes me a bible-thumpin', gun-totin', 40 oz. swillin', ign'rant, Wal-Mart shoppin', believin' that evolution is a lie, nut job, then by God, I am one. In all honesty, I'm a Christian male, who believes in ALL of the bill of rights, not just the 2nd amendment; have never drank any alcohol, have many black, Hispanic, Asian, and Democratic friends, hate Wal-Mart (I prefer shopping at the little drug stores and dollar stores), believe in parts of evolution, and, having been checked by a psychologist, am perfectly sane. The reason I voted for Bush:

I felt he would be a better President than Kerry. Do I believe that Bush is God? No. Do I believe that he had a great first term? No. Do I believe that he is the best President ever? Absolutely not. But when all was said and done, I felt better about Bush than Kerry. Sorry you're taking this so bitterly, but at least Ashcroft is gone (which is a great thing, unless he gets on the Supreme Court, in which case, I may start a recall-Bush vote through the U.S.)
