Dear Hokies...

and their friends, family, faculty members and staff of Virginia Tech: my heart hurts for you and I can't even begin to express my sorrow and horror at what you have experienced and for what remains for you to go through.

In case you've been under a rock (or just watching the marathon or the Red Sox) all day:

Thirty-three people were killed and at least 30 injured during a shooting rampage this morning at Virginia Tech, making it the deadliest mass shooting in U.S. history.

Let's just say I don't ever want to hear the words "student" and "execution style" used in the same sentence again. Nor do I wish to hear students describe watching out a window, police go into a building and bring out what they assumed were bodies.

Somewhere out there someone knows who this shooter was. Someone out there must have seen some signs of the planning. That someone out there should come forward and give these poor parents some concept of what happened to their child.

REAL

Everything has changed. Nothing has changed. I don't want to go through this again. I can't live without it. I'm sure I can handle it. I couldn't imagine it any other way.
And if none of this makes sense... well, you obviously aren't a Red Sox fan.
